Dry oak - pine forest near ridge. See plot MONF.255 and MONF.223 for more detailed context. The slope is a series of shallow coves and narrow ridges. The oak-hickory community runs below the plot to the drainage and upslope to the ridge.;Moderately steep dry side slope dominated by Quercus spp. (rock, red, black, scarlet). Dry and acidic. Several old snags are scattered throughout the plots. One large emergent white pine is found in the center of the plot. Diversity is rather low. Very little in the way of shrubs or forbs. Slope is criss-crossed with deer trails. Fire scars on many of the larger trees, charcoal in soil pit.
